Bellatrix Aerospace is a space mobility company founded in 2015 that develops advanced propulsion technologies for satellites and space missions. It focuses on improving space propulsion through higher performance, longer operational life, lower costs, and greener alternatives to traditional systems. Its technologies support missions ranging from small satellite constellations to large communication satellites, with notable innovations including water-fueled plasma thrusters and environmentally friendly alternatives to hydrazine-based propulsion."
Both founders, Rohan and Yashas bring strong engineering backgrounds. They began building the company while still in university, demonstrating early conviction and commitment to the space-tech sector despite limited resources and a challenging regulatory environment. Rohan’s expertise in aerospace engineering and propulsion research is complemented by Yashas’s strengths across operations, go-to-market strategy, and finance, creating a well-rounded leadership team capable of navigating both technological and commercial complexities.
Bellatrix Aerospace designs and manufactures advanced satellite propulsion systems that enable satellites to maneuver in orbit for functions such as orbit transfer, constellation management, collision avoidance, and de-orbiting. Its portfolio spans green chemical and electric propulsion technologies supporting both LEO and GEO satellites, with ongoing work in adjacent technologies pointing to an expanding addressable market.
Cactus Partners invested in Bellatrix driven by our conviction in the rapidly expanding global space-tech market, supported by rising satellite launches, increasing demand from the Global South, and favourable regulatory tailwinds. The company stands out for its vertically integrated design and manufacturing approach, with most critical components built in-house, enabling strong IP creation, cost control, and faster time-to-market.
Our conviction is further strengthened by the founding team’s deep domain expertise, clear vision, and early signals of product–market and technology–market fit. Together with strong industry tailwinds, this creates a compelling risk–reward opportunity, where we believe we can also add value through business development support and go-to-market strategy.
